Some January
We are still decompressing from the holidays and still putting our lives back on track. After a month of preparing for Christmas and being away from home for ten days, we are finally getting back into the groove of things. One more load of laundry will account for the last of the dirty clothes out of suit cases and into closets.
2010 brings change on the job front to both David and I. I started a new job securing text permissions for McGraw-Hill Education in November and David starts a new job tomorrow, also with MHE, working with the new Center for Digital Innovation. I'm enjoying my new position a lot, and David is anticipating that his new position will likewise prove to be a good move.
Ada just turned 20 months and is starting to potty train. It wasn't on our radar at all until she started requesting to sit on the potty when she saw one of us on it. She surprised us this weekend with a poopy and a pee pee on the potty, all completely initiated by her.
Breyten is 8, handsome as can be, happy, silly, and such a love. He is sensitive, smart, and his sister's hero!
Pics from the past few weeks below!
Here they are, Ada and Breyten, my two peas in a pod. Ada cranks her "cheese" up to 11 and Breyten plays it cool. It amazes me how much they love to play together and love to be together. It never ceases to fill my heart. Neither David or I grew up with siblings, so we missed out on the bond that these two have. There's nothing better than watching them together.
Breyten is doing great. Second grade has been a good year so far, and outside of school he is his happy, silly, loving self! He really loves to play Wii, play with Legos, anything Star Wars, and reading or watching anything science related.
Breyten had a buddy sleep over this weekend, so while the two of them were playing Wii, Ada and I made breakfast.
Ada's mantra: "Mommy, I do it!"
Ada covets her brother's clothing. Here, we see her bringing back the pant suit with cammo jammie pants that she snagged from Breyten before he could get them on.
Ada spent part of her afternoon creating a masterpiece on our dining room table. I have pictures of Breyten at the same age creating similar art. I'll have to dig some of those out and post them side by side.
Little hand, lots of paint
Ada says, "Paper is so limiting..."
Ada sports a fresh urban look with some edgy color
Ada and Breyten helped me make dinner tonight. Well, Breyten helped me make dinner. Ada helped by busying herself "washing" dishes. Here's my kitchen crew. We made homemade tomato basil soup. Mmmmm!
