The baby's room
This is the nearly blank slate that we started with back in March. The walls were light yellow, but they had clearly been painted previously with a darker color and not primed over before the yellow, which gave the room a dingy feel. There were also some cracks in the plaster ceiling and the floors were, well, let's just say that they were the finest specialized splinter delivery system that I had the pleasure of walking on.
Though the completion of this project is primarily due to David's elbow grease, we got some very appreciated extra help from our friend Justin (thanks Justin!) and even Breyten, who is sporting his state of the art protective gear for sanding and vacuuming in the picture below.
David also built out the closet. Since our house was built in the 19teens, our closets are ridiculously shallow. You can't even hang a full-sized hanger in them. Shelving, therefore, seemed the best option.
Here's the changing table (thank you Alexis and Mary Alice!) and the painting we bought at the art show at Breyten's afterschool program. Each of the classrooms did a canvas with all of the kids. This one was done by the toddler room. Up close there's a lot more cool details...some hole punch circles and some nice pre-writing-skill marker scribbles. We also have a futon in the room (not pictured) that can be a couch or a queen sized bed. And that's it! So save for a few more details, we're all set for our little one to arrive. Well, at least in terms of the house. I could use a few more days of rest since today was really my first day off of work :)

Lovely and serene! The floor looks amazing, too.
