Spring Break 2009, Stage 3, Chincoteague Island

We had a great couple days in Richmond, and then we moved on to Chincoteague. We've been off line for a few days. No internet on Chincoteague Island, at least not this early in the season. Now we're in Falls Church, VA, and we are back to the 21st century!

Chincoteague was fun, though the weather did not cooperate. It was cold and rainy for two of our three days. Very windy, too. But that gave us plenty of time to slow life down and spend time together. We had great quality time with Aunt Martha and Uncle Gary and played lots of board games. Even learned how to play Backgammon.

Yesterday we woke to bright sunny skies and we were able to take a bike ride around the Assateague National Wildlife Preserve. We had a great time, though Ada slept through all of it. When we got back to the cottage, we realized that none of the pics we took at the beach turned out. So before we drove out for Falls Church, we went back to the beach and hit the golden hour. A few shots are below.

Today we are off to Washington, DC. We are going to walk the mall and see what we can see. Tomorrow we are going to the Air & Space Museum at Dulles with Uncle Bud and Aunt Denyse.

Gotta run!

So they say....in the 1700s a Spanish galleon shiprwrecked on the shoals off the coast of Virginia. The Spanish ponies on board swam to shore and have lived in the wild on Assateague Island. This is one of the descendents of those ponies. Breyten got quite close, but since it's a wild pony, it did not want to be touched.

Not only does Ada love to crawl, but she absolutely loves to explore the ground outside. Whether its grass, sand, or dirt, she vigorously communicates that she wants to be down on the ground exploring. We were lucky that she ended up with very little sand in her mouth!

A chilly, but beautiful day at the beach

Great pics!! I love the family beach photo--was Ada saying "Please let me down again!"? LOL! Cute! Sounds like a great vacation, even with some not so ideal weather in the mix.
